Hello Jan and June
I am writing to express a concern over a particular meeting per-diem [$40] that Jon Evenson claimed for the month of July.
The specific meeting took place on 07/5/06, and on the Meeting Expense Reimbursement Form submitted by Jon Evenson, it is listed as, "Meet with Spyros Heniadis RE: Artwork Display".
If this had been the actual content of the meeting I would have no contention for the claim of this meeting expense, however during the course of that "meeting", we never discussed Artwork display.
We did in fact discuss my personal public comment made to FERC in response to the DEA concerning the Bridgewater development.
I do not feel it can be construed as a properly claimable meeting by Jon Evenson, as the content of the discussion really had no bearing on his position as an official of the Village.
I would argue that discussion of my personal opinion and public response to FERC are outside the scope of Jon Evenson's authority and function as village president, and I believe that this particular meeting per-diem should be refunded back to the village.
I am however unaware of village ordinances, policies, etc.. in this matter, so I submit my concern to the Village Finance Committee for review.
Thank you,
Spyros Heniadis

If anyone reads this blog submission by Spyros, I belive it is important to understand that the intent of the meeting that both Spyros and I agreed to conduct on July 5 was to discuss the Biron Artwork display. What we did end up discussing at my suggestion was Spyros's submission to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)and his subsequent retraction of a portion of that submission, and how closely aligned Spyros's submission was to those of the opponents to the Bridgewater project. We also discussed the ability of Spyros to obtain factual information directly from the Village of Biron, and the appropriateness of his doing so as a member of the Bridgewater Public Access Committee. Had Spyros obtained factual information prior to his FERC submission, he may not have had to file a subsequent retraction to FERC. We would have lilely been able to discuss the Artwork display as intended, instead of my attempt to gain understanding as to why a Bridgewater Public Access Committee Member was putting forth information to FERC that was inconsistant with what the Bridgewater Public Access Committee was attempting to accomplish. And by the way, Artwork was discussed, though admittedly, briefly.
